DUI Checkpoint by Carlsbad CA Police Department January 2nd, 2009.

On January 2nd, 2009 Carlsbad CA Police set up their annual holiday season sobriety checkpoint on Carlsbad Boulevard (AKA Pacific Coast Highway). Traffic was surprisingly light for a Friday night so there was a lot of waiting for the next car to come through. In all, 3 field sobriety tests were given, one was found not to be over the limit and was free to leave. 2 were arrested for DUI and one vehicle was impounded because the driver was not licensed. All in all, a very quiet night. Hopefully this indicates that people are realizing that drinking and driving is not worth the risk.
